Is it just us or do we all have times where we daydream about moving to the countryside? living like Cameron Diaz in The Holiday, spending afternoons reading books in front of log fires and soaking in a bubble bath after a day filled of exploring the rolling hills? Sometimes however, all you need is to escape for just a few nights and that's enough to fulfil the fantasy.
Our self-catering holiday home in the stunning North Pennines is the very definition of luxury, rural living. Blackton Grange Estate is a picture-perfect country farmhouse that has been lovingly restored to provide space for up to 17 people across eight beautifully designed bedrooms. It has a large "farmhouse luxe" kitchen which is the perfect place for dinning and chatting after a day exploring the local area and not to mention the gorgeous free-standing baths for when you need some R&R. If that's not enough, we also have a bespoke cinema room, games room and outdoor hot tub so whatever you may be in the mood for, we have you covered.
Nestled in the heart of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the rural area of Badersdale. We are a short drive away or a 5 mile scenic walk from the village of Romaldskirk which has two lovely country pubs to enjoy. However, the farmhouse is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a luxury self-catered holiday and the beauty is, you don't need to leave the house at all if you choose not to.
As well as the amazing in-house facilities, we also have a specially curated list of local suppliers who will provide in house services from the comfort of Blackton Grange Estate. These include Private Chef Hire, Cocktail Parties, Life Drawing Classes, Grazing Tables and Massage.
If however, you do fancy exploring beyond our Estate, we’re a short drive away from the local market town of Barnard Castle which is home to a stunning castle and independent shops and restaurants. We are also lucky enough to have direct access to the famous Pennine Way walking & cycling route where you can explore the rolling hills and the rare and beautiful wildlife. Bird lovers will enjoy walking down to the bird hide to observe the varying species of birds in their natural habitat with the binoculars provided.
The sky comes alive at night with some guests having been lucky enough to see glimpses of the Northern Lights when conditions allow.
